If you had to pick a side, would you be Team Standby or Team Shutdown?
At the end of each working day, some people like to just close their laptop lid.
Others prefer to shut down their computer.
These days it doesn’t really make a difference (you should shutdown at least once a week though).
Did you know there’s a setting in Windows which actually puts your computer into hibernation, rather than a proper shutdown?
This means when you think you’ve shutdown for the day, you’ve actually just put your device into a state of hibernation.
It’s called Fast Startup. And it’s easy to switch off:
- Go to your Control Panel and click on Power Options
- Click Change what the power buttons do, then click Change settings that are currently unavailable
- Now you simply uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended) and Save changes
When you next shutdown your device, it will actually shut down, not just have a deep sleep.
