Cloud storage is becoming an increasingly popular way to store data without having big servers taking up valuable office space.
It’s also a more cost effective way to store information you can access from anywhere.
But is it secure? Is it safe?
Let me give you my short answer: Some cloud storage providers are safer than others.
Here’s what I suggest when you’re thinking of moving to the cloud:
- Look for reviews from technical people, not just decision makers
- Check how data is encrypted
- Learn how access to data is controlled
- Check the provider won’t be able to access your data
Of course, cost should be a consideration too. However, when it comes to cloud storage, the free option is unlikely to be the right option – especially for a business.
The most important thing is to think data security first.
