You know when you’re on a train, on a cell phone call. And you’re conscious that everyone in the carriage is listening to you.

This could actually be happening with your emails. It’s called a Man in the Middle attack and business emails are a prime target.
Hackers gain access to your email account and quietly sit in the middle of an email chain, monitoring what’s being written by each side.
They might change something like bank details (so payments are made to them and not you). Or extract sensitive data like login information. Or even send a fake email pretending to be one of the parties.
This kind of attack is really difficult to detect.
Fortunately, if you use Microsoft 365 this could now be less of a worry. It has added a new security layer to authenticate and encrypt emails going in and out.
